* Vera Lane Studio: Frida Dee

 

Hello

It is Monday and so it's my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today I have a project with a brand new digi set release called 'Frida Dee':

It would be Frida Kahlo's birthday this week on the 6th July, so our very own immutable Miss Dee has decided to dress like her in order to send her heavenly birthday greetings.

I used Copics and Polychromo pencils to colour Miss Dee and popped her on a smooshed Oxide background which also has white heat embossing and stamping, using AALL & Create stamps. Miss Dee is grounded on some of Janet's washi tape and is quoting one of Frida's famous sayings. 

To be honest, I think Miss Dee (or rather Janet Klein) has done a fabulous job of replicating Frida's style.  And, although Miss Dee is a required taste :), she has a softer look today and I like that!

* Gecko Galz: Safari Fever

Hello

July is here and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.  

The theme this month is Safari Fever.

As always, we also have the monthly card challeng.e, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.

And, new for this year, we have a new challenge, the quarterly challenge.. This quarter the challenge is to make an altered mason jar.

I made a number of projects for this theme and I can't wait to share the majority of them on the 20th July, but for now here are 2 digital collages I made:.

These zebras are enlarged images from the Safari Jewel It collage set - aren't they gorgeous!

I popped them on a background paper from the Out of Africa ATC set, adding masks around both the papers and the images.

On the collage below, I removed the background from one of the ladies from the Safari Jewel It set and placed her in front of the zebra.

I added some digital embellishments, digital sentiments and added a black frame.

Crafts Galore Encore: Make a Wish

 

 Hello

Today sees that start of a new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore. 

The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter up to 3 different projects.  The challenge runs all month until mid day (GMT) 30th July.

This month's challenge is kindly sponsored by Beccy from Beccy's Place.

 I chose to use two stamps from Beccy's free digi stamp archives for my project, Gnarled Wreath and Whimsical Bunny.

Here is my project:

 I downloaded and printed the line art and coloured with Copic markers. I fussy cut both the wreath and the bunny. The background is a clean up sheet from using acrylic paint and a brayer. The wreath is adhered directly onto the background and the bunny is popped on foam pads for dimension. I added a Tim Holtz Small Talk sticker sentiment. The background and images were matted onto black card.

* Vera Lane Studio: Feel Good

 

Hello

It is Monday and so it's my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today I have a project with a recently released digi set called 'Feel Good':

The images were coloured with Copic markers, whilst the background is Brushos sprinkled through a stencil and spritzed with water. I added some white heat embossing and some black stamping around the edges. Some Frantage enamel and paint splatters were also flicked over the background. I used a torn piece of washi tape to ground my girl, and I popped her on foam tape for some dimension. Finally I separated one of the sentiment into strips.

The stencil, stamps and washi tape are from AALL & Create.

Gecko Galz: Gentlemanly

 

Hello 

The theme this month at the Gecko Galz blog is Dapper Gentlemen.

As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.

I made a set of square cards:

I used Dapper Dan ATCs for the background - resizing them to fit these 5 x 5 inch card bases. Great Journeys collage sheet provided my image backgrounds and the fussy cut gents are from Mad about Men and Sharp Dressed Man. The image is on foam tape for some dimension and the embellishment takes the form of fabric circle trim.

These simple cards let the papers and images do the talking.

I used Wanderlust ATCs and Oxidation ATCs for the backgrounds - again resizing them to fit the card bases. The images are masculine in nature and are from the 'Steam Power' collage sheet.. The only embellishment I added was some gold mesh trim under diagonally opposite corners.

 I used a background from Steam Power and a fussy cut gent from Mad About Men.

Path of Positivity: Mandala

 Hello

Welcome to the midway reminder for the June Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by a pattern.

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

A pattern is a repeated decorative design and a mandala is a perfect example.

This stamp has been in my stash for ages:

I heat embossed the mandala in white then blended over with oxide inks (Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry).  I used a die to cut out the centre and stamped the "all about you' sentiment directly onto the inked surface. I also heat embossed the 'sending hugs' onto black card.

The mandala was raised on foam tape and three sequins were added to the middle section.
