* Vera Lane Studio: Lil' Queen of Hearts

Hello!

I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Here in the UK we are on Day 7 of the lockdown. These are scary times and being physically isolated from family and friends doesn't half make you miss them. I truly believe when we come through this, the world will be a better place.

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio. Janet has a new release out - Lil' Queen of Hearts, and she is such a cutie! Here is what I made using just one of the five digis from the set:

I coloured the queen with Copic markers and fussy cut her. Her mixed media background was made by smooshing greys and red Distress Oxides onto card, then stencilling the diamonds with inks and adding texture paste through Lotsa Dotz. I added some white stamping and some red flourishes and inked the edges with black archival. White paint splatters  finished off the background.
I popped the Queen of Hearts onto foam pads and placed her gave her on torn washi. The sentiment is from Tim Holtz's 'Snarky Impertinent' Sticker Pad.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Vera Lane Studio: Home Sweet Home

Hello!

I hope this Monday finds everyone safe and well. If you are self isolating I hope you are finding things to while away the hours and if you are social distancing - keep up the good work! I hope and pray that no-one has contracted the virus. These are scary times. Like many of you, I am keeping busy and crafting when I can.

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today I have used  my Customised VLS Digi Set. If you send Janet a photo of yourself, she will make a VLS-style girl or boy in your likeness. The set will also include a house, a cloud and a sentiment.

I made a 4.5 inch square layout and popped it into a frame. I'm going to hang it in my hallway.

I made the background with distress oxides and water on acetate, using various shades of blue and green and smooshing the colour from the acetate onto my card.  I used a stencil to apply some crackle texture paste and splattered some white paint over the background as well as some watered down Distress Oxides.
I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The house and cloud were adhered directly onto the background whilst myself and my cat were popped on foam pads. I stamped a stone path from the house for us to stand upon. I made my Home Sweet Home sentiment using Vera Lane Studio's Baby Powder Font. The edges of the background are inked with black archival ink.
 Here is a close up:

The brick work was made by Copic colouring the house in solid colour, then using the thick nib end of the blender pen to bleach out some of the colour.

* Gecko Galz: Springtime

Hello!

Today is my DT day at Gecko Galz.

Gecko Galz is running daily challenges with fabulous prizes to help you colour your world and to hopefully take your mind off the worrying times we are living through at present.
You can find the daily challenges
>>>>here<<<<

Our customer challenge theme this month is Once Upon A Springtime, so I made some springtime projects.

Set of spring tags:

I created some backgrounds using PaperArtsy Infusions in Emerald Isle and a stencil. The tags were die cut and the edges inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I added some twine ribbon to the bottom section of the tag and fussy cut some images, from the beautiful Botanical Blends collage set. The lovely images are popped on foam dots for dimension with a piece of natural cheesecloth behind. Words were chosen from the Charming Words collage set and attached to the ribbon. The tags were finished with a twine fastening and a bow.

The next two tags were created the same way, but this time the backgrounds are brayered Distress Oxides.

***
I also created a spring time card. The lovely image is from the Garden Children collage set and the paper is from the Linen Closet paper pack.

I teamed these with kraft paper die borders and added a hessian ribbon with some lace flower trim. The die cut flowers and foliage are Tim Holtz (Funky Florals 2) die cuts, coloured with distress inks.

And finally this is a collaged canvas that I made for my  Customer Challenge inspiration post. Details of this can be found here:

I hope you'll join our Once Upon A Springtime Challenge where the Winner will get a
$25 shopping spree
at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product

* Path of Positivity: Daisies

Hello!

Happy Monday!

Today is the midway point of the March Path of Positivity challenge.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Beauty of Botanicals.

**The beauty of the botanical world is all around us.**
This month create a project that depicts the allure and influence of botanicals. You can choose flowers, greenery or a combination of the two to show your love of nature's bounty.

Prizes this month include:
  • 3 images from SheepSki Designs, our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Please remember in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

I used a floral image from our guest sponsor, SheepSki Designs.  It is called Daisy Panel.

I love the simplicity of daisies.
They are not showy, but have a complexity and sophistication all of their own. The tiny white flowers are often tinged with pink around the yellow centre. They have strong roots which have a tendency to spread outwards and the daisy flower itself responds to nature and opens up at dawn.
The daisy signifies purity and innocence - for me it is a reminder of our childhood days when we used to make daisy chains.

I coloured the daisy panel with Copic markers, making good use of the Blender pen to soften the edges of the pink tinged areas. I fussy cut around the daisies and popped them, on foam dots, onto a die cut ornate frame.  The beautiful paper is from a pad called 'Blissful Cotton' by Anna Marie Designs. The background paper is from the same pad and features distressed script. I inked the edges of the background paper with Vintage Photo ink and popped the frame and daisies on foam tape for dimension. Pink, organza-style ribbon was attached to the left side of the background and a double bow was made. The sentiment is a Tim Holts Small Talk sticker, summing up my thoughts about this beautiful little plant.

Many thanks to SheepSki Designs, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

* Vera Lane Studio: Alice and White Rabbit

Hello!

I hope this Monday finds everyone safe and well.

It's a new release day at Vera Lane Studio and that time of year when Alice appears everywhere! Janet has created a 3 digi stamp set called Alice and White Rabbit and I have used all 3 digis in my art journal page.

In my scene, Alice has fallen down the rabbit hole and has had time to straighten herself out before the White Rabbit comes rushing by!

I started the page by collaging some book paper, then adding crackle texture paste through a leafy stencil. Once this was dry, I sprinkled PaperArtsy Infusions in Emerald Isle over the page and spritzed with water. I popped a circle mask over the page and added Neocolours in teals and dark greens around the outside.
I highlighted the leaves with Posca Pens in both black and white and added some Inktense Pencil colours to help them stand out a little more. Some stamping with a PaperArtsy flourish stamp along the edges of the page and some paint splatters finish off the background.

Alice and the White Rabbit are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. They are glued directly onto the page with some Prills and Gel Medium to ground them, representing the tunnel floor.

The sentiment is part of this digi set. I cut it into strips and inked the edges with black ink. The strips are glued onto the background and I went around the words with a black fine liner.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.

* Artsystamper: Layers of Morning Glories

Happy Monday!

Today sees the start of a new challenge at the Artsystamper Challenge Blog
Each challenge runs for two weeks and starts on the first and third Monday of the month.
The theme for this challenge is Lots of Layers
I hope that you can find time to join in the fun!

The winner will receive the stamp set of their choice from TheArtsystamperShop. The Top 3 will also receive an image of Beverly's choice!
Beverly Cole’s selections offer stamps and sentiments in each set as well as pre-coloured images for easy, last minute cards. Why not take a moment and check out what she has in store!

Here is what I made:

I decided to make an easel card, layering up the beautiful papers and inking the
edges. I matted the background onto black card to form a frame.  I used the pre-coloured Morning Glories and fussy cut them. I added two clusters in diagonally opposite corners, then layered three single flowers in the centre, popping these on foam pads for more layers and dimension. The Hello sentiment is from the same set and was cut with a stitched rectangle die.
The easel is held open by a sentiment from the California Poppies digi stamp set, cut with a label die and popped on foam tape. I added two teal gems at either side.

* Vera Lane Studio: Pineapples

Hello!

Happy Monday!

A few weeks ago at Vera Lane Studio, Janet released Pineapples, a set of 8 different graphically designed pineapple digis.
Here is what I made:

Who doesn't love sweet and juicy pineapples?
I coloured mine with Copics and fussy cut them. The background is a stencil printed (Weathered Tiles), Distress Oxide one using Scattered Straw and Wild Honey. I added some stamping ,using the Heartfelt stamp, in Wild Honey and Vintage Photo. Gold glitter washi tape grounds the pineapples and the sentiment is from the Back 2 Back collage sheet.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
