* Gecko Galz: Wonderland Tunnel Book

Hello!

I hope that you are keeping safe and well.

The customer challenge theme for July is Welcome to Wonderland. You can check out the awesome creations made by the DT on the Gecko Galz blogWe would love for you to join the challenge using one or more products from the Gecko Galz Etsy shop.

Here is what I made:

It is a tunnel book that I made from scratch. I cut my  six pages 4.5 x 4 inches and scored at 0.5 inches on the longest side. This would be the binding, so each page will be 4 x 4 inches. I die cut a circle from each of five pages, the largest circle on the first page and gradually getting smaller. This produces the tunnel effect.

The pages were smooshed in Distress Oxides in various grey and red colours. When dry they were stencilled over in Black Soot to create the diamond shapes. Next Grunge paste was added through an AALL & Create stencil (# 39 Lotza Dots), and red flourishes were stamped. The rim of the circle and the edges of the pages were also inked with Black Soot.
Here is the back page (without texture paste):

Next came the task of fussy cutting images and quotes to fit the pages and to overhang each aperture. I selected these from the collage sheets in the Wonders of Wonderland Kit (which is on SALE for $1 until the end of July). This is a bit fiddly as you need to see all of the overhanging images from the first page, so some patience and lots of trial and error are needed. Anyhow, eventually this is what my book looks like.

I decided to colour the reverse of the images with a black marker, so that when they were visible from the back of the page, they would blend more into the background.

The later pages had images and quotes on the back side as well, as the apertures were smaller.

The final page has no aperture, but Alice's head can be seen through the tunnel from the front page. It's just above the flamingo's head if you are searching :)
