Vera Lane Studio: Platinum Jubilee

Hello

Today for my Vera Lane Studio DT project I have a card to share.

This coming weekend is Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee - the whole nation will celebrate her 70 years of dedicated public service. The Vera Lane Studio Jubilee digi set is perfect for creating cards and journal pages to commemorate this event. I combined Jubilee with elements from another older set called London.

I made a little London scene, colouring the digis with Copic markers and making a background by smooshing white card in Distress Oxides. I added some 'X or O' background stamping, some white paint splatters and inked the edges in black. Janet's Beachrock washi tape acts as grounding.

I matted the scene onto black card, then mounted it onto a stencil-stamped background.

And here's a closer look at the iconic London buildings from the London digi set: Big Ben (showing that it's always five o'clock somewhere!), The London Eye and a red London bus.

Vera Lane Studio: Kayak

Hello

Today, for my Vera Lane Studio DT project, I have a card to share featuring the Kayak digi set. This set has a boy and a girl in a kayak along with 3 sentiments. For some reason I always sway towards the girl images :)

I coloured the image with Copics and Polychromos, adding some white Posca pen highlights and dots here and there. The background is a gelli print using acrylic paints. I added some white embossing and stamping using some of Janet's Background Noise stamps.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: Springtime in Paris

Hello

It's my DT day on the Gecko Galz blog and this month our challenge theme is La Vie Paris.

We also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge and the monthly vintage stamp challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

Here are my makes:

First is a decoupaged and collaged card using characters from the Parisian Garden Kit set. They were fussy cut and set inside a rose adorned frame from the same set.I printed two of the frames, so that I could fussy cut the rose bough and butterflies and pop them on foam pads for dimension.

Next I have a pretty lady from the Parisian Ladies collage set.

She is framed in Vintage Frame 24 from the Vintage Frames Kit. I added a fussy cut butterfly.

I used another background from the Parisian Garden Kit and added a fussy cut lady from the Sweet Fashion collage set.

I distressed the edges of the papers and added some die cut flourishes to add a little texture.

And finally a digital collage using several png elements from the Parisian Garden Kit:

Below is the card I made as inspiration for the customer challenge and you can read about that here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our La Vie Paris challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize.
Do come and join us!

I'll be back on the 1st June with more Gecko Galz projects.

* Path of Positivity: Friends Journal Page

Hello

Welcome to the May (midway) Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating something special about our friends.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

For this post I decided to make a journal page to depict the joy of meeting up with a group of friends for a coffee and a chat. Each friend brings something unique, and often quirky, to the group and we end up having a great time filled with laughter and banter.

I used an ElenaZinskArt collage set for my focal images. The set is called Fun Faces and Doodles. I used the pre-coloured versions, but there are black and white line drawings for you to colour up yourself. I love Elena's quirky, colourful style!
I printed my girls at half size, then fussy cut them leaving a thin white border all around.
I made a background by smooshing white card into puddles of Distress Oxides. I stencilled some white circles using gesso and added lots of tone on tone stamping and some black stamping around the edges.
My girls were popped on foam tape for dimension and I chose a lovely Scribbles sentiment, called Find Warmth, which summarises how I feel about my friends.

The colours on the collage girls are really bright and vibrant. I just added a little extra turquoise to their eyes and some white Posca pen highlights.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Vera Lane Studio: Unique Succulents

 Hello

Today at Vera Lane Studio we have a new digi set release. It is Unique Succulents and has a sweet boy in his truck delivering succulents plus three sentiments.

I made a journal page:

Isn't he the sweetest boy!

I used Copics and Polychromos to colour the truck and made a stencilled background using PaperArtsy Golden Sands Infusion pigments. I added stamping using AALL & Create stamps and added some white Posca pen splatters.. I cut a strip of background card and added it on top of torn washi tape for the grounding.

The sentiment was cut into strips, adhered and outlined with a fine liner.

That's all for now.

I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Vera Lane Studio: Miss Dee ATCs

Hello

Miss Dee has been around Vera Lane for a while, but has recently become very popular with the AALL & Create stamping community, so Janet, the artist behind her, has created some new digi sets to depict what this no-nonsense, 'tell-it-like-it-is' lady gets up to.

I made a couple of ATCs.

First up is Mama Dee:

She's a hoot ... I wonder what the little girl is thinking :)

I coloured the images with Copics and popped them onto a stencil stamped background made by smooshing ink onto a stencil, spritzing it with water, then stamping it onto white card. I added some white splatters and some stamping in black around the edges using Janet's X or O stamp set. Bipasha's Power Words washi tape acts as grounding for the pair.

Next I have the original Miss Dee:

Her sentiment makes me smile! She, again, is coloured with Copics and has a stencil stamped background with extra stamping around the edges.

Frida

 Hello

The challenge at Lost Coast Designs this fortnight is Strong Women

I made this small Frida notecard:

I smooshed, dipped and dabbed Distress Oxides onto white card to make the background.  I then stamped this lovely Woodcut Frida from Lost Coast Designs. I stamped it again onto smooth, white card, fussy cut around Frida and glued it on top. The sentiment is a Small Talk sticker which I think is apt, as Frida was a very strong and brave woman. I matted my piece onto black card and popped it onto a custom made card blank.

That's all for now.
