Gecko Galz: Klimt and Fairies

Hello

and welcome to my blog :)

October is well and truly underway and we have the Creepy Circus customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.

We also have our annual blog hop towards the end of the month, so be sure to come back on the 26th October to collect collage sheets and be in with the chance of winning prizes.

As always, we also have the monthly card challeng.ethe monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.
We also have the quarterly challenge where this time we're asking you to make an altered shrine..
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive that week's free collage sheet.

For my DT day, I veered away from this month's theme and made a Klimt style card and a Fairy Garden pocket card.

I love this image of one of Klimt's paintings. It is one of the images from the Gecko Galz collage sheet called Crazy About Klimt. The painting is called Golden Tears, so naturally I was happy to get out my gold paper :) I had also recently bought this beautiful Klimt inspired paper which I used for the background.

I felt the image and the papers were enough, so I kept embellishments to a minimum (for me) and added a lacy die cut border, a sentiment and a tiny, gold, die-cut flower.

I also made a pocket card with elements from the Fairy Garden Junk Journal Kit:

Here are the tags, journal cards and ephemera that are tucked into the pocket:

A close up of the beautiful fairy butterflies which have Glossy Accent 'eyes' on their wings and lots of fine glitter.

For the Gecko Galz monthly challenge theme, Creepy Circus, I made a diorama card and a couple of digital scrapbook pages. Here's the diorama:

For this I used backgrounds and images from the Life's A Circus Kit. The ATC background was enlarged and the centre cut out, the edge was popped on foam and the 3D piece now acts as a stage for the fussy cut Punch and his dancing dog. As a child I always found Punch and Judy shows to be scary. I added a money-collecting, uniformed monkey and the circus sign to which I added Glossy Accents.

You can find more about these next digital collages here if you want to take a closer look.

 That's all for now!

I hope you'll join our Creepy Circus challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month.

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a bespoke digita prize.
Do come and join us!

I'll be back on the 26th October with more Gecko Galz projects in our annual Bog Hop
(26th to the 30th October).
