Vera Lane Studio: Begin a Garden

 

Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and it's also new release day. Janet has created a fabulous new digi stamp set called Begin a Garden. There is a sweet little gardener girl, a couple of shrubs and two sentiments.

I made a journal page:

I heat embossed Tracy Evan's stamp (#210 Background Mash Up) in white, then sprinkled Emerald Isle and In the Navy PaperArtsy Infusion pigments over the page and spritzed lightly with water. I added some Sunset Corsette Nuvo pigment to give the gold shimmer. Background Noise stamping (#338) was added to the edges in black.

I coloured the images with Copic markers, fussy cut them and added white paint splatters to the shrubs. I grounded them with a torn piece of washi tape.

I love the effect of spritzing the Infusion pigments ...

Gecko Galz: Steampunk Love

 

Hello

February has arrived and we have a new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.  

The theme this month is Steampunk Love.

As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.

And, new for this year, we have a quarterly challenge - the current one being make a Junk Journal - which ends on February 26th.

I made a set of ATCoins and popped them onto black and gold frames:

The images are from the Steam Dream Tin Toppers and the backgrounds are from the Steampunk ATC Collection. I added some black fabric trim for texture and some watch parts from my stash along with an ideology star. I added the coins to a frame die cut from gold and black card.

I decided to turn one ATCoin into a small notecard: 

The ATC Coin was placed onto a stencil printed background. This is one of my favourite mixed media techniques where Distress Oxide inks are smeared onto the stencil, spritzed with water and then stamped onto card. The background was matted onto black card and a clipping sticker provides the sentiment.

I also made a greeting card with the steampunk giraffe. Isn't he handsome.

The steampunk giraffe is from the January Steampunk Fantasies Junk Journal Kit which is part of the 2023 Kit Club. I gave him a black mat and popped him on foam tape on top of paper from the Steampunk ATC Collection which I also matted onto black card. Metal style gems were added along the left side. and a sticker sentiment from the Idea-ology Small Talk collection.

* Vera Lane Studio: Love Grows

 

Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today I have a circular card to share. I used the Love Grows digi stamp set which features this cute girl, a couple of heart shaped flowers, two different sentiments and the XOXO banner.

I coloured the stamps with Copic markers and made the background by stamping with one of Janet's stencils, #96 Dandelion Field, using a variety of green Distress Oxide inks. I added some Background Noise (#338 AALL & Create) stamping, both in tone on tone shades and in black around the edges. I also used Distress Glaze for the number stamping to add a different texture. I added some white splatters and a torn piece of 'Wishi Washi' washi tape to act as grounding.

Path of Positivity: Fashions Fade, Style is Eternal

Welcome to the February Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by fashion.

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

 This was a difficult theme for me. 

In the end, after a lot of too-ing and fro-ing, I settled for a Julie Nutting doll stamp called Frida to be my focal point:

I stamped Frida onto white card and stamped her again onto patterned paper so that I could paper piece her dress. I coloured the rest of the doll with Copic markers. I added some shadows to her dress and fussy cut her.

I made two backgrounds using Distress Oxide inks through stencils. I added lots of stamping in various shades of greens and some white splatters. I added some faux stitching to the smaller background and a doodled border around the large background. The sentiment was typed and cut into a strip. I made a fabric bow and added a button as my embellishment.

Vera Lane Studio: Tiny Royals

 

Hello

Today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and it's also new release day.  Janet has created a wonderful new digi stamp set called Tiny Royals. There are four different characters, two boys and two girls and two sentiments which can be used in their entirety or cut into snippets.

I made a couple of tags:

 The background was stamped with Janet's stencil from AALL & Create. It had Golden Sands Infusions and water already on it from previously sprinkling Infusions through and spritzing with water. I added a sprinkle or two of Sunset Cossette Nuvo pigments to give the gold shimmer. I love the random print effect you get with this technique and the unpredictability of the pigments.

 I added some Spiced Pumpkin stamping to the background and some black stamping to the edges using the star background stamps from AALL & Create. Torn 'Power Words' washi tape was used to ground the adorable little characters.

I coloured the characters with Copic markers. I added Glossy Accents to their jewels. The queen's crown has some diamond Stickles around the sapphire :)

Crafts Galore Encore: Augie Bear

 

Hello

Today sees that start of a new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore. 

The theme is always 'Anything Goes' and you can enter up to 3 different projects.  The challenge runs all month until mid day (GMT) 27th February.

This month's challenge is kindly sponsored by Andrea from SheepSki Designs and she gave the DT some digis to create projects. I chose this lovely peeping bear called Augie and I made a card:

Isn't he adorable! 

I printed him onto smooth white card and printed a second one to fussy cut as a mask. Masking Augie meant that I could stencil the background using two AALL & Create stencils and Distress Oxides. I decided to print a third bear to colour with Copic markers. Once coloured he was fussy cut and placed on top of the original bear - my reason for doing this was that it was easier to manipulate his lower paw clutching at the corner of the door. Also, having the bear printed underneath meant that his lovely, fuzzy fur outline is still visible. The door is wood-style design paper which I inked around the edges. I used a watercolour pencil to add some shadows around Augie and to delineate between the floor and the wall.

I made a cover for a hardback notebook:

I love this steampunk kitty! He is from the Steampunk Fantasies Junk Journal Kit which is the January offering in the 2023 Subscription Kit Club.

I gave him a kraft card frame, die cut with a stitched rectangle. The background was made by dry embossing with a stencil and spritzed Distress Oxide Inks - I love the way this turned out. I added a wooden clock face behind the image mat and tucked some gold metallic gems beneath the bottom edge. I also added a sticker sentiment to the image and fussy cut the tag sentiment and popped it on foam tape for dimension.
