* Vera Lane Studio: Toto & Dorothy

 Hello

It's my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I have made a journal page with the Toto & Dorothy digi set. This is one of the many Oz sets that are in store now.

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The background was made by stamping with a stencil and Oxide inks. Janet's 'X or O' background stamps were used in black around the edges and a hand doodles border drawn. The images were popped on washi tapes to ground them.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Path of Positivity: Happy Cat

Hello

Welcome to the April Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that focuses on celebrating something special about our pets (or animals in general).

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.
Here is my project. I am remembering all the lovely kitty cats that have been part of my family. From Suzy and Cindy when I lived at home with my parents, to Holly, the first kitty to join me and my husband after we were married, Holly's kittens, Poppy and Patch who stayed with us, then much later, Indiana and Casey. All were unique and funny, they had wonderful, loving characters and they are sorely missed now they are no longer with us.

I used a stamp from Lost Coast Designs called Happy Cat for my card. I made a garden background using the AALL & Create 'Dandelion Fields' stencil with Oxide inks and used the 'Indulge in Daisies' stamp for the flower border at the base. I stamped over the background (tone on tone) and edges (in black) with the 'X or O' stamps.
All of my kitties were allowed outdoors and they loved to sit in the garden, often finding a sunny spot if it wasn't too hot or creeping under the bushes for shade.
I love the expression on this cat's face - look at his smile - it is a beautiful stamp.

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #100 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

I'll be back with a another Path of Positivity project in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Vera Lane Studio: Spring Dress

 Hello

At Vera Lane Studio we have a new digi set release called Spring Dress - a little cutie girl with buttons and bow accessories and two sentiments.

Here is my project:

I used a background I found in my stash - a die cut circle which had been inked with Oxides and some leafy stamping. My little girl is coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I added a piece of torn washi to ground my cutie and I cut the sentiment into strips and added some white splatters.
I matted and layered using a Sizzix circle die and added it to black card.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Hello

I have 3 posts today:
Post 1: Garden Child for Gecko Galz
Post 2: Spring Muse for Gecko Galz
Post 3 Teddy (this one) for Crafts Galore Encore

***

It's April already and the start of a brand new challenge at Crafts Galore Encore.

Morgan's ArtWorld is sponsoring the challenge and there's a prize of 3 digi stamps for the winner.

Here is the card I made using Teddy 1

I coloured the image with Copic markers and die cut it with a stitched rectangle die. I made a background by smooshing white card into puddles of Fossilised Amber Distress Oxide ink. I added an intricate die cut on top and popped the image on foam tape. I die cut some butterflies, smooshed them in inks and added them to the corners of the image.

Many thanks to Morgan's ArtWorld for supporting the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge.

Please pop over to Crafts Galore Encore to see the DT's wonderful designs.

We'd love to see your creations.
Remember the challenge is always 'Anything Goes' and so you can create any type of project - it doesn't have to be a card and you can enter up to 3 times.

Thanks for stopping by today!

April is such a beautiful month, with spring in the air and flowers starting to bloom.,  Over at the Gecko Galz blog our customer challenge theme is Garden Child.

We also have the monthly Image Challenge and the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, as well as 4 Facebook challenges.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.

The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month.  Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.

For my customer Inspiration project I made a shadow box:

I used a small Tim Holtz vignette box (second size up) to make my secret garden. I used resized ATCs from two sets, Blooming Waters (for the backdrop) and Dream Garden which I fussy cut. I added Glossy Accents to the blue delphinium flowers in the background for some shine and dimension.

The little garden child is one of the stamps from the Victorian Spring Kit - isn't she lovely! I decided to leave her in black and white so that she would contrast with the colourful flowers.
Four tiny, wooden bobbins were added to the base of the box.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Garden Child Challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

Gecko Galz: Spring Muse

 Hello

I have 3 posts today:
Post 1: Garden Child for Gecko Galz
Post 2: Spring Muse  (this one) for Gecko Galz
Post 3 Teddy for Crafts Galore Encore

I am back to tell you about a new challenge we are running at the Gecko Galz blog.

It is a challenge using vintage digital stamps. The stamp is free to collect on the blog here.

This month the image is a charming woman and this time the challenge is a technique one where you need to get out your tools and supplies and make a fun, springtime project .

The winner will be randomly drawn and will win a Gecko Galz stamp set

I made a journal page with the image:

In this 4 x 6 inch journal I always make the page on card, then adhere it to the journal page.
I made my background by stamping and heat embossing in white. I gradually added colour by smooshing, dipping and dabbing the card into Distress Oxide puddles - I did the blues first at the top, then when this was dry, I worked on the greens. I added white paint splatters and inked around the edges with black archival ink.
I fussy cut the lady from her background and inked around the edges to get rid of any white card. She is adhered to the page and strips of torn washi tape ground her. I also added some torn washi around the edges for a little more definition.
I added a Small Talk sticker sentiment to finish off the page.

That's all for now!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog and collect the free digi stamp (available for April only) if you would like to play along in the challenge.

I hope you'll join our Garden Child Challenge too where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

Vera Lane Studio: On the Trail

Hello

A huge welcome to Jane Savage and Pat Crossland - thank you for your support!

It's my Vera Lane Studio DT day and we have a new digi set in store today called On The Trail.  It has a gorgeous little girl and her dog as the main images, some boulders and stones as well as hills and two sentiments.

Here is what I made:

I started a home-made, disc bound journal and popped this page into it.
I coloured the images with Copic markers and finished them off with Polychromo pencils. They are fussy cut and adhered directly onto the background.
The background was stamped with one of Janet's stencils (Dandelion Field) and Distress Oxide inks. Stamping was added, using stamps from both Background Noise and Visual Ingredients, in tone on tone colours using green inks and using black inks around the edges. I made a trail by stamping with black ink and I added some torn washi beneath it. Paint and inky splatters were added to the background.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!
