* Vera Lane Studio: Cloud 9

Hello!

At Vera Lane Studio we have a new release. It's the lovely Cloud 9 and this digi set comes with a pre-coloured collage image, a black & white digi stamp and two sentiments.

I used the pre-coloured image for my card:

I sized the image, printed it out and fussy cut it and it was ready to go - super quick and easy! I decided to add some blue to her eyes and a little pink to her lips. My background is made from acrylic paints with some stencilling in the centre and some text stamping along the edges. Black and white paint spatters were added and the edges inked in black.
I made a cloud out of marabou feathers - how lovely that she's floating in the sky! The sentiment was cut into strips and outlined with a black fine liner.

That's all from me for today.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Fisherwoman

Hello!

Last week at Vera Lane Studio we had a new release - the cute and quirky Fisherwoman and this digi set comes with a pre-coloured collage image, two black & white digi stamps and two sentiments.

I used the pre-coloured image for my card:

The Fisherwoman was sized and printed out several times and then fussy cut. I only needed one Fisherwoman, but wanted the fish from the other images. I gave the Fisherwoman brown eyes and added Glossy Accents to the fish to make them shine.
The background was inked with Distress Oxides in Vintage Photo, Brick Red and Mustard Seed. Stamping was added with oxides around the edges with a flourish stamp and in the centre with some dots. Black paint splatters were flicked on with a fan brush and the edges stamped with a grunge background stamp in black ink.
I added some texture trim and hessian trim to ground the images and attached the Fisherwoman and her fishy catch on foam dots to pop them off the card. The sentiment was cut into strips, adhered and outlined in black.

* Vera Lane Studio: Frankie's Mansion

Hello!

At Vera Lane Studio we have another new release today. It is Mansion Gates, a set which is incredibly versatile. I chose to team it with Frankie and Carlos to make a Halloween card; they are welcoming you 'foolish mortals' to their home :)

I chose a background of creepy trees, added the Mansion Gates png image and printed it out. I coloured the gate posts and the gargoyle with Copic markers and inked around the edges in black. Frankie, Carlos and Corbett, the crow, were printed separately, coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I glued Corbett directly to the  background as if he is sitting on top of the gate and popped Carlos and Frankie on foam tape for dimension. The sentiment, from Mansion Gates, was cut into strips, adhered to the background and outlined with fine liner in black.

I love Frankie's high waisted trousers - they remind me of Simon Cowell!!

How cute is Carlos! And Corbett, the crow, is creepy cute and quirky! The gargoyles can be used separately to the stone/brick pillars and the gates could be the entrance to a princess's palace or to a spooky old house where witches gather - just use your imagination and the list is endless!

* Vera Lane Studio: Frankie and Bride

Hello!

At Vera Lane Studio we're getting ready for Halloween with two creepy-cute new sets released today. One set is called Frankie and the other is Bride (of Frankenstein) and they go together perfectly!

Here is the card I made:

I inked some mixed media card with Distress Oxides and blending tools, masking off a circle shape to represent the moon. I dry embossed the inked paper in a birch tree embossing folder and swiped Black Soot Distress Ink over the raised tree trunks, smudging onto the sky to suggest the inky darkness of night time.
Frankie and his bride were coloured with Copics and pencils and fussy cut. They are glued directly onto the embossed background and one of the sentiments, from the Bride set, was cut into strips, adhered and outlined in black.
I matted the background onto purple card and placed it onto an orange coloured card to pick up colours from the background.

* Vera Lane Studio: Autumn Sunflower ATC

Hello,

Here is my second ATC for the Vera Lane Studio ATC swap:

I used Sunflower as my focal image and teamed her with the hedgehog from Helga's Hedgehog. I coloured the images with Copics and added some white Posca pen highlights. The images were then fussy cut.
My background is acrylic paint with a little Vintage Photo stamping and some black paint splatters. I added some raffia trim to ground my images, then applied some strokes of gold acrylic paint all over. The sentiment was printed, cut into strips and outlined with black fine liner. To finish, I added some gold crystal gem trim to the top left corner and inked the edges in black..

* Gecko Galz: Ritzy and Glitzy

Hello!

It's my DT day at Gecko Galz and, as the theme for this month's customer challenge is Putting on the Ritz, I thought I'd stay broadly within that theme for my projects.

Firstly, I made a trio of ATCs:

I used the Blooming Water ATC sheet for the backgrounds. This set is incredibly beautiful - it has the most vibrant colours.

The ladies on all three ATCs come from the Nouveau Goddess Jewel collage set. The images were enlarged,  printed and fussy cut. The edges of the image were inked with vintage Photo Distress Ink, as were the edges of the background paper.

I matted the paper onto black card stock and drew some faux stitching around the edges with a black fine liner.

A small butterfly from Butterly Kisses was added to each ATC, being glued in the centre and leaving the wings free gives them a 3D appearance. The sentiments come from the Journal Toppers Kit.

***

Next I made a 4 x 4 inch card using the In Marble Halls paper and another Nouveau Goddess Jewel.

The card has a simple design, using the enlarged Jewel as a card topper. Both the card topper and the background paper were inked around the edges in black and were matted onto black paper. Four die cut corner scrolls were added to the card to frame the image.

***

My final project is a wall hanging.
I used three card beer mats as the base of each panel. The beer mat had a wood-like appearance and so I didn't feel the need to cover it with paper.

The images are from the Butterfly Kisses collage sheet - I resized them, printed them out, cut them and distressed the edges before inking the edges with Vintage Photo.

I used an embossing ink pen to go over the words Hope, Joy and Faith and then heat embossed them with gold embossing powder.

I printed two of each image out, so that I could cut the main butterfly from each and add it as a 3D element by gluing it down just in the centre.

The three mats are held in place by twine secured at the back of each mat. I added some wooden beads in-between each mat and at the base.
