Here is my DT project:

I used the beautiful sunflower digital stamp from the Sunny Sunflower Digital Stamp and Paper set and coloured it with Copic markers. I made a background by heat embossing an AALL & Create stamp  in white, then smooshing the card through Distress Oxides in Scattered Straw, Fossilised Amber and Wild Honey. When the background was dry, I attached some yellow and some brown polka dot ribbon along the base. I popped the sunflower on foam tape and added some white paint splatters. The sentiment, from the Vintage Roses and Birds digital stamp set, is cut with a label die, and two brads were attached and it is popped on foam dots. The background is matted onto black card and sits on a 5 x 5 inch card base.

Vera Lane Studio: Thoughts of You

Hello!

It's my Vera Lane Studio DT day once again and this time I have made a card using the beautiful Thoughts Of You digi set.

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The background is brayered PaperArtsy Fresco paints in Butternut and Smoked Paprika. Some Heavy Cream Fresco paint was brayered over lightly to tone the bright colours down a little. I added Grunge Paste through one of Janet's AALL & Create stencils (Dandelion Field). Next I added some tone on tone stamping in Spiced Marmalade and inked the background's edges in black. White paint splatters were added with a Posca pen.
A torn piece of washi grounds my images.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Fairytale Ending

Hello!

For my DT day at Vera Lane Studio I recycled a coffee tin to make a pencil holder using the Fairytale Ending digi set.

Here is the decorated strip of watercolour paper that I attached around the tin:

I love how the little princess is curtsying :)
I brayered PaperArtsy Fresco paints onto the smooth watercolour paper, then stamped some grass from Janet's "All Good Things" stamp set (AALL & Create #296).
The Fairytale Ending images were coloured with Copic markers, fussy cut and adhered to the background. The sentiment was cut into strips, adhered and doodled around with a black fine line pen.
White paint splatters were added as a finishing touch.

The paper was adhered to the tin using double sided red tape.

The castle and the knight on horseback would make a super boy's card:

The sentiment I chose makes me smile!
The second sentiment in the set reads, "Sometimes you have to make your own darn fairytale".

* Circle Play

Hello

Yesterday I attended an online workshop hosted by Stampers Grove and taught by Gwen Lafleur. Gwen is an amazing artist and she designs for PaperArtsy and Stencil Girl.

Here is what I made:

I worked on 9 x 12 inch watercolour paper and collaged the background using Professor Plum and Haystack PaperArtsy Fresco paint, along with some Heavy Cream over the collaged elements.

The circles were stamped - I used a selection of circular Rubber Dance stamps (from Crazy Flowers Set 1 and Textured Sea Creatures). The leaves were collaged with stamped, green gelli printed paper.
Colour was added to the circular flowers with Gelatos and Neocolour II crayons and I added some doodling with black, white and gold Posca pens.

White acrylic ink was splattered over the finished piece and the edges were inked with Ground Espresso and Black archival ink. I also added some gold acrylic paint to the leaves and along the edges.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Gecko Galz: Summer Colours Card and Fairy Lamp

Hello!

I'm back for Gecko Galz today with my DT projects. I've stayed within the monthly theme of Colours of Summer and made a card and a fairy lamp.

Here is my card.

I used the beautiful daisies from the Background Check Digital Stamp set and printed it onto tissue paper. I added white paint to the reverse of the flowers and adhered it to a gelli print background, using matte medium. When dry, I added colour using Arteza brush pens and a water brush.
I added some Stickles to the bee and butterfly wings matted onto black card and popped the sentiment onto a black mat and adhered. It makes a colourful 5 x 7 inch card.

Next, I have a fairy lamp made from a used coffee jar:

Someone like me who drinks coffee all day long has plenty empty jars and I'm always looking for ways to use them. They make brilliant storage jars, but this time, I wanted something a little different.
I had a set of bottle lights, the ones with the faux cork where the switch is. I covered the cork with cheese cloth to disguise it after I had glued it to the inside of the coffee lid. I coiled the lights and after fighting with them managed to get them in the jar along with some natural sisal to give a dreamy effect.

I decorated the lid with some gathered lace. I wish I had painted the lid first, as it looks a little dark. Next time I'll paint it in gold, I think. I added hessian trim to the base of the glass (it's actually the top of the jar, but it will be upside down). I popped the Gecko Galz Flower Fairy, which I added some Copic colours to, directly onto the glass and a butterfly as well. I added some tiny flower trim to the top of the jar and some open flower trim cut into individual flowers on the other jar sides.

To finish off, I needed something on top. I decided to ball up some sisal, place lace around it and covered the sisal with pastel coloured flowers.

I'm really pleased with the result! Here is what it looks like in a darkened room:

My final project was made as inspiration for the Customer Challenge. It is a Flag Book and details about it can be found here.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Colour of Summer Challenge where the Winner will get a

* Path of Positivity: Crazy Cat

Hello!

Happy Monday!
I hope you are staying safe and well.

Today is the start of a new Path of Positivity challenge.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Success.

Prizes this month include:
  • $10 gift certificate from Ike's Art our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Please remember in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

I was lucky to receive an image and quote from our ongoing sponsor, Scribbles Designs:

Sometimes we get a good idea into our heads and it just won't leave us alone until we act upon it. This is what my sentiment is saying to me. Often, on impulse, we embark on a new venture without really having much idea about what it really entails. The fabulous cat image is called Nimble Puss and this reminds me of the time about eight months ago when I had this crazy idea that I could manage a zumba class. I was going to the gym at the time and was regularly doing pilates and yoga, but I wanted some high impact, calorie and fat burning exercise, and zumba sounded perfect! It was dancing to great music ... I had done it before (a long time ago!) - what could be better? Well, let's just say, my bouncing up and down days are probably over! I was constantly going the wrong way, was hot and very sweaty and gasping for breath. At the end of the hour I looked like I had just walked out of the shower! However, crazy little me succeeded in staying for the whole session and did attempt it again the following week :)
Now onto my card - the lovely puss was coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut to leave a thin, white border. He is popped on foam pads onto a background made by brayering 3 colours of PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylic paints (Aquamarine, Slimed and Inky Pool) onto card. The paints are stamped (AALL & Create # 304 and #350) over with Versafine Clair Warm Breeze and Brilliance Moonlight White, and the edges are inked in black.
The sentiment was cut with a tag die, threaded with baker's twine and also popped on pads.

Many thanks to Ike's Art, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
