Hello!
Today is my GDT day at AALL & Create and this time I have a mixed media plaque to share.
I had a lot of fun fussy cutting and colouring the beautiful flowers. The angel and her sentiment make me so happy.
I had a lot of fun fussy cutting and colouring the beautiful flowers. The angel and her sentiment make me so happy.
I used Janet Klein's beautiful #357 Fly stamp set along with Bipasha's #324 Blooming Beauty as my focal images and worked on a piece of card which I glued to the mdf plaque once it was finished.
Here is my step by step process:
1. I stamped the images I would need, making several copies of the flowers so that they could be layered.
2. I used Copic markers to add colour to the images and fussy cut them. I added extra colour with pencils. The fussy cut, coloured flowers and leaves were layered onto a fussy cut white image where just the branches had been coloured: this gives some texture and dimension.
3. The card base was prepared by adding structure paste with a palette knife to give a distressed look. I used PaperArtsy Fresco paints to colour the textured card.
4. The card base was stamped with the flower boughs and also with #366 Roundly in Speckled Egg Distress Oxide. Some texture paste was applied through the #39 Lotza Dots stencil and white paint splatters were added. An Artful Days frame was painted in white and stamped with Versafine Claire Warm Breeze, then added to the central part of the card.
5. The plaque base was prepared with a coat of gesso, then mermaid paint followed by Inky Pool applied with fingers.
6. The base of the plaque has some text stamping from the Blooming Beauty stamp set.
7. The pretty fairy was coloured to match the flowers. She was fussy cut and added to the circular spotlight frame on top of some cheesecloth. Her sentiment was cut into strips and inked along the edges and adhered within the spotlight.
8. The flowers were arranged around the spotlight on foam pads for dimension. The flowers were splattered with white paint.
9. The plaques was adhered to its base.
