Vera Lane Studio: Present, Patient, Peaceful

  

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today at Vera Lane Studio we have a new digi set release. The set is called called Present, Patient, Peaceful and features a lovely, long legged girl laying in the meadow, some grasses, a couple of flowers, a sun and a cloud. The three words 'Present, Patient, Peaceful' form the sentiment.

Here is my project:

I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them. I made the background by stamping with a stencil loaded with Oxide inks,. I added some white embossed hearts and some crackle texture hearts using an AALL & Create stencil. A little black stamping was added around the edges and lots of white splatters. I grounded my girl by making a shadow with with Inktense watercolour pencils.

* Path of Positivity: Go with the Flow

Welcome to the midway reminder for the August Path of Positivity Challenge.

Our challenge is always Anything Goes with an optional theme.

This month's option is to design a project that is inspired by the sea.

Honours and Prizes include:

• $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
• A badge for the following honours: Top Pick, Voter's Choice, Most Inspirational, Random Winner, DT Delight.

I decided to use the whale stamp from the AALL & Create stamp set, 'Sea Life' " for my project:

I stamped the image onto white card and then stamped the whale again to make a paper mask to place over the original whale, so that I could add ink around it. I added extra watercolour to the hexagons and seaweed and finished with plenty white splatters.

I matted the image onto black card, then made a second mat from blended blue oxides. I love the 'Go with the Flow' sentiment.

Vera Lane Studio: Venice

 

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today I have used an older digi set called Venice for my project. It features two squishy characters, a boy gondolier and a girl tourist, along with a gondola, a mooring pole and two sentiments.

Here is my project:

I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them. I made the background by braying acrylic paint and adding some heat embossed texture with AALL & Create stamps. A little black stamping was added around the edges and some grey, stump-like shadows of mooring poles along with plenty of white splatters. I used washi tape to ground the girl.

Gecko Galz: Ocean Blues

The August customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog is well under way.  

The theme this month is Beach Babes.

As always, we also have the monthly card challeng.e, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.

And, new for this year, we have a new challenge, the quarterly challenge.. This quarter the challenge is to make an altered mason jar.

I made a pair of note cards

I adore the images on the Sirens collage set and chose two as toppers for my cards.

I paired the images with digital paper from the Neverland ATC set and the Playing with Marbles ATC set

My trusty gold card came out for matting and layering.

And I made some die cut foliage from inked card, as well as some coral. Some gold mesh trim was tucked within the foliage and a small die cut flower has a pearl centre.

I also made a decoupaged collage card: 

The lighthouse is from the Lighthouse Jewel It set and the girl is from the Beach Babes collage set. I cut the background paper, from the Crumbling Walls paper pack, to overlap the base of the lighthouse like 'waves' and popped the girl on foam pads. Underneath her is double sided tape which had sandy glitter applied. The seagull was decoupaged and left with open wings. The blue background paper is from the Splashdown ATC set.

* Gecko Galz: Christmas Mouse

 

Hello

The free Christmas image at Gecko Galz for August is an adorable Christmas Mouse. 

I used her to make a digital card:

I teamed the image with an ATC from the Christmas in Nature ATC set. I digitally enlarged the ATC, added some border masks to add texture and interest to the paper. I added a deep red mat for the image to rest upon and then layered digital ephemera in the form of florals and foliage and a sentiment.

Next, I printed the image and papers to make a handmade card.

Of course, you'll notice a difference in image clarity straight away - a lot depends upon the quality of your printer and the status of your ink, as well as the type of card you use. The colours on mine are a lot duller than the actual digital versions, but I find the digital layout is good for designing and brain storming.

I find there's nothing quite like the touchy-feely aspect of a handmade card. I always add texture and dimension to my cards. This one is layered and matted and also has die cut foliage and faux berries, as well as a tiny sentiment tag.

Hello

It's Monday and my Vera Lane Studio DT day. 

Today Janet is releasing a fantastic new digi set called Australia. It features an Outback boy and girl, a kiwi bird, a koala bear and two sentiments.

Here is my project:

Aren't they the sweetest pair! I coloured the images with Copics and Polychromo pencils. I borrowed rocks from the 'Be a Sunflower' set and a cloud from 'My Vespa'.

The background is stamped with Oxide inks on a stencil from AALL & Create. I added white splatters, some white embossing and some black stamping around the edges.
