* Vera Lane Studio: Be Mine

Hello

I'm back with another Vera Lane Studio project. This sweet little girl is a little different, as she is tall. Now at first I wasn't sure I like her as much as the other Vera Lane girls, but once I coloured her she definitely 'grew' on me.

I made a Polaroid. XOXO is the digi set:

This is a fun format to work with. The background is an old one that I pulled from my stash - it was ink blended with Distress Oxides, then had tone on tone stamping with Versafine and some heat embossing along the left side. All stamps used are from AALL & Create. The images were coloured with Copics and finished with pencils. I added Tim Holtz alpha stickers to spell out 'Be Mine'.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Vera Lane Studio: Take Time to Relax

Hello

Please let me warmly welcome two new followers, Trevor and Dotty Jo. Thank you so very much for taking an interest in my blog.

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today I'm sharing a project made with the Take Time to Relax digi set that was released recently.

For a change I chose a circular format, die cutting my card, then printing the background using Oxides on one of Janet's stencils, Dandelion Field. I added some stamping using Background Noise and some paint splatters. The images are coloured with Copics and fussy cut. Janet's washi tape acts as grounding for the bench.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

* Gecko Galz: Wild World

 Hello

I've had this lovely image from Gecko Galz on my desk for a couple of weeks and decided it was time to put it to use.

I made a card and added one of the Music Maker Sentiments which I thought was appropriate.

Isn't this such a beautiful scene? I mean, I know it's not so good for the people on the ship, but the wildness and natural beauty here is astounding. The image is one of 50 from the January Pre-Raphaelite Monthly Kit from Gecko Galz. (This is a yearly subscription kit club - each month you receive a different themed kit containing 50 images. You can join anytime and you will get the back months straight away.
I teamed the image (PRA42) with some vintage coloured patterned papers from my stash; I distressed the edges to add to the wildness :) I knew I wanted the 'Wild World' sentiment, but didn't want it to distract from the image, so I printed it out onto vellum. I added three paper flowers and called my card done.

That's all for now!
I hope you'll join our Silly Love Songs Challenge where the winner will get a $25 shopping spree at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product (this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!) Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the monthly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.

We also have a friendly Facebook Group where there are 4 monthly challenges, each with a collage sheet prize.

* Path of Positivity: Sugar Cookies

 Hello

Welcome to the February Path of Positivity Challenge.

This month we are designing a project that focuses on celebrating something special about a family member.

Honours and Prizes include:
  • $6 worth of images from Scribbles Designs, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • A badge for the following honours: Top PickVoter's ChoiceMost InspirationalRandom WinnerDT Delight.

I have chosen to make my project about my sister. She loves spending time in her kitchen cooking up all sorts of lovely food. She really enjoys baking and is our family's official birthday cake maker. I've left a few hints about a gorgeous Raspberry Surprise Coconut Snowball cake for my birthday this year!

Here is my journal page:

I used two stamp sets designed by Janet Klein for AALL & Create; #421Sugar Cookies and #410 Nana's Kitchen. I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them.

The background is printed with AALL & Creates Lotza Dots stencil. I then added some tone on tone stamping using #494 X or O stamps. Black stamping was added around the edges along with black ink.

I used a piece of torn washi tape to ground my little cook.

Here's the cake I'm wishing for... mmmmm, it looks delicious:

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!
The link up is here: Challenge #98 Path of Positivity.

That's all for today!
Many thanks to Scribbles Designs for sponsoring the challenge.

Vera Lane Studio: Pisces

Hello

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and we have a new digi set release today called Pisces.
Janet Klein, the artist, is working her way through the zodiac signs and this is the second set; Aquarius can be found here.

I made a tag:

I started by inking my tag with Distress Oxides and water. Next I heat embossed the AALL & Create stamp Crashing Waves. I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. I borrowed some rocks from a set called Snail's Pace and the birdie is from Woodland Props.
I added some gold Prills to the sand and some white splatters to the sea and sky. I finished by darkening the tag edges with black ink.

Do What You Love

Hello

Today I am sharing a card I made with the Lost Coast Portal Challenge, Think Pink, in mind.

I used stamps from AALL & Create. The background was inked by smooshing into puddles of Distress Oxides, then heat embossing and adding paint splatters. The focal image is Miss Merry and one of her birdies. She is coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut. Torn washi tape acts as grounding. I added a hand drawn doodle border and the remains of the torn washi to act as a border. The sentiment is a Small Talk sticker.

That's all for now.

Thanks for stopping by today!

* Funkie Junkie Boutique : Icy and Cold

Hello,

I am delighted to be a Guest DT at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog this month where the theme is Icy and Cold.

I made a pair of tags featuring Tim Holtz's Paper Dolls.

I decided to go with cool, sage green colours and cream rather than the standard blues and greys for this theme. I brayered PaperArtsy Fresco paints onto the die cut tag, then added some grit paste through a stencil.. I heat embossed a mandala stamp and stars from AALL & Create with white powders and added a few silver embossed stars for good measure. I swiped the edges of the tag along the embossing ink and added silver powder to the edges.

I cut some 3D Impresslit Snowflakes. I dipped them into watered down Peeled Paint ink and when dry added some Peeled Paint Distress Glaze, followed by iridescent embossing powder. I also die cut some snowflakes from glitter card.

I heat embossed some chipboard florals with white sparkly powder. I die cut winter foliage using Tim's Sizzix dies.

The snowflakes and foliage was adhered to the tag forming a cluster and the paper dolls were popped on top with washi tape beneath their feet for grounding.

Three tiny, sparkly gems were added and I called my tags done!

Here are a couple of close up photos:

And here are some of the products I used:

That's all for now.
