Hello!
It's Monday again and my DT day at Vera Lane Studio. We have a new release today called Heart and Star featuring two adorable girls and two sentiments.
I made two cards to show an easy background technique.
My card with Star:
The image was coloured with Copic markers and white highlights were added. I fussy cut her and popped her on foam tape to go on top of the background.
The background was super easy to make and is really quite charming, even if I do say so myself :) Last weekend I went to a local craft fair and met the incredible Tracey Evans demonstrating her new range of stamps. I spent ages watching and asking questions about her backgrounds and loved all of her techniques - this is one of them.
1. Place a stencil over your card.
2. Sprinkle some pigments - I used Brushos in Orange and Brown, then
3. Lightly spritz with water and carefully remove stencil.
That's it!!!
Lift the stencil, turn it over and press it onto a piece of clean card and you have a second background just as pretty as the first, but in reverse image. It doesn't get much simpler, but the effect of the different pigments gives a fabulous result!
My card with Heart, using the reverse of the stencil:
I finished my backgrounds by inking around the edge with Spiced Pumpkin and Vintage Photo Distress Oxide. I added white paint splatters to Heart's card background. I matted the background onto black card and attached it to my card base. I cut the sentiment into strips and glued to the background outlining with black sketchy lines.
