Hello!
Have you heard?
It's the Cat Lovers Hop hosted by Janis at Her Peaceful Garden.
This year is the fifth hop and it's a crazy week filled with crafting, commenting and celebrating cats of all sizes. There are fabulous sponsors and prizes to be won, but best of all, friendships to be forged with like minded cat lovers from around the world. Why don't you come and join us?
Here is my third card:
I used a Woodware stamp, called Van Cat, for this card. I stamped onto smooth white card and coloured with Copic pens. I added some white Posca paint pen highlights and dots and fussy cut the image, leaving a thin white border. This helps the image stand out from the busy background.
The background is a super quick technique using pigment powders and a stencil. I learned the technique from Tracy Evans. I use smooth 300gsm card, so that it will take the water without warping. Simply place a stencil (one with plenty open spaces - I used AAll & Create #39 Lotza Dotz)) on to the card, sprinkle with pigment powder - I used PaperArtsy Infusions in Sunset Beach - and spritz lightly from high with water. Lift the stencil away carefully to reveal a wonderful multi-tonal background pattern.
I added quite a lot of water with this background and it went beneath the stencil, so that the shapes blended into one another. I thought it looked like someone had been splashing paint around and having a fine old time - perfect for my kitty artist!
I finished my background by inking the edges with Candied Apple Distress Oxide and matted it onto black card, them popped it onto a 5 x 5 inch card base. A double die cut sentiment was added and three sequins for a bit of sparkle.
That's all for now!
