* Gecko Galz: In Dreams

Hello!

Happy December!

Over on the Gecko Galz blog we are celebrating the run up to Christmas with our 24 Days of Tags event. Each day DT members post a tag made using Gecko Galz products. If you leave a comment on the blog post or make a purchase you will be in the draw for a DAILY Gecko Galz gift!

The last month of the year brings a new challenge at the Gecko Galz blog and this month the theme is In Dreams, so this is the perfect chance to show us what your dreams are or make any project with a dreamy theme.

The winter collection has arrived in the Gecko Galz Etsy store and I have used images and a frame from them for my projects.

My first project is a card.
I love the golds with just a touch of pink.
This is what I always hope my (night-time) dreams will be like; calm, quiet, beautiful, serene and idyllic.

I chose one of the beautiful images from the new Dreamland collage set. I matched some paper from the Solarium paper pack and teamed it with gold textured paper from my stash. I matted the image and layered it onto papers with delicate ivory lace. I added some shop bought pink flowers and die cut some kraft and gold leaves to make a cluster, adding some cheesecloth to soften the effect. The sentiment is from the Charming Words collage set.

My second project is a wall hanging with a more surreal theme. I have to say that this is what my (night-time) dreams are usually like - a hotchpotch of confusion, distorted reality and sometimes a little disturbing! I don't know what this says about me, but honestly... I'm not crazy!!

I used one of the frames from the new Been Framed Kit. I printed it out, adhered it to heavy black card 350gsm and fussy cut around the edges. The centre was die cut with a circle which was almost the same size as the aperture. I inked around the inside edge with black archival ink and it remedied the situation. Once dry, I added lots of gems - large yellow gold ones with a crystal centre on the outer edge, blue gems on the next layer, followed by a string of mini grey pearls and lastly some gold metallic looking beads.
The image is another stunning one from the Dreamland collage set. I love this Elizabethan girl/fairy riding her bike in the sky surrounded by clouds and seagulls. I decided that I would decoupage her and make her look as if she is riding out of the picture frame. Foam dots pop her upper half up whilst her bicycle wheel is adhered to the bottom of the frame. Her wings were curled slightly, as were the seagulls wings, to give the impression of movement.
I added a scrap of gold lace that had been lying around on my desk forever, as a loop for hanging it up, and fixed it securely in place with another die cut circle.

I hope you'll join our In Dreams Challenge where the Winner will get a
