Hello
Spring most definitely is in the air and we have our new customer challenge over at the Gecko Galz blog.
The theme this month is Feathered Friends.
As always, we also have the monthly Image Challenge, the monthly Christmas Image Challenge, the monthly Stamp Challenge, an ATC challenge, a Steampunk challenge and a Gothic Challenge on the blog, as well as 4 Facebook challenges. These can be accessed by the tabs at the top of the main blog page.
And, new for this year, we have a quarterly challenge. This time the challenge is to make an altered canvas.
We hope you can find some time to join in the fun.
The winner of the Customer challenge will get a $25 Gecko Galz Etsy Store voucher and the runner up a $12 voucher. There are plenty of free Gecko Galz images if you don't already own any. Each blog post has a free image to collect and, if you sign up for the monthly newsletter, there is the chance to claim a free collage set each month. Also if you make any purchase of $2 or more you receive a free image.
For my DT projects I made a collage card and a couple of simple journal pages.
Firstly, here is my collage card:
I started with a tissue paper layer and added torn book pages and ephemera from the Postage set. I tied it all together by inking the edges in Vintage Photo ink and applying crackle paste through a stencil over random areas. The birds are from Ephemera Romance (small blue bird with crown), Little Birds (bird in flight) and Garden Botanica (blue tit and nest) paper pack. The flowers around the edges were cut from an image from Little Birds.
I added some stamping in black to fill some spaces.
I matted the collage onto black card and popped it onto a stencil stamped background made with Distress Oxide inks in shades of blue.

Next I made a simple journal page using a fun image from the Easter Tokens collage set. I love this quirky, bicycle-riding hen pulling along her cart of eggs.
The background is a monoprint made by applying Oxide inks onto an acrylic block, spritzing with water and stamping it onto white card. The image was fussy cut, inked around the edges and glued in place. I used watercolour pencils to ground the image and added lots of white Posca paint splatters. The sentiment, from Hoppy Easter sentiment set was die cut and attached and it was done!

The second journal page is another Distress Oxide monoprint with added stamping in tone on tone colours and white paint splatters. The delightful image is again from Easter Tokens and the sentiment from the Hoppy Easter sentiment set.
Look at these gorgeous chicks in their Easter bonnets :)
