* Vera Lane Studio: Veggies

Hello!

I have a quick post to share today for Vera Lane Studio.
The sun is shining and we're off to the seaside for the day!

Janet released a new digi set yesterday called Cruciferous which has a cute and quirky cauliflower and a beautiful broccoli character, along with two sentiments.

I made a couple of CAS cards:

My images are coloured with Copics. Once fussy cut they were placed on a strip of glitter design paper onto a blank card. I added some washi tape below the paper strip and a sentiment from Tim Holtz's Small Talk sticker book. To finish I added a hand drawn border.

That's all from me for today.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Text Me ATCoins

Hello!

I'm sharing the Artist Trading Coins I made for the current Vera Lane Studio ATCoin swap. You'll find us on Facebook if you want to come and play!
The theme this time is 'Text Me'.

I used a die to cut my 2.5 inch circle from black card and I cut a slightly smaller circle from white card. I used Distress Inks to colour the white card, then heat embossed some letters using one of the Dylusions Basic Backgrounds stamps. I added some dictionary paper which I smooshed in inks and some tiny torn pieces of pink and black & White spotty washi tape. I inked around the background with black ink.
I used the birds from the Doodle Collection and coloured them with Copic markers, adding some white highlights. I printed the words #tweet and #tweet-tweet for the sentiments, outlining them with black fine-liner pen.

That's all from me for today.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Slow Down, Breath, Relax

Hello!

It's my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and today I have a card using some of the older sets of digis.

I created a little scene mainly using Snails Pace.

I love the expressions on the snails' faces. Vera Lane characters are so awesome and quirky; they always make me smile! These snails are perfect for decorating envelopes containing Happy Mail.
I used elements from other sets: the birds are from Woodland Props, while the cloud is from Helga's Hedgehog. The butterfly is from Blossom and the bee is from Sprinkle and Sparkle.

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them, making sure to run around the cut edges with a black marker pen to hide any imperfections in my cutting!
The background is acrylic paints dabbed onto the mixed media paper with a damp baby wipe.  I added some stencilling with Distress Oxides and stamped some text onto the side edges.  I inked all around the edges of the background, first with Distress Oxides and then with Ranger black ink. I also added some black and white paint splatters with a fan brush.
All the images were glued directly onto the background. The sentiment was cut into strips and outlined in black fine-liner pen.

* Vera Lane Studio: Dilly's Days

Hello!

It's my day to feature my DT projects for Vera Lane Studio.

We have a new digi set release today - the fabulous Dilly's Days. Dilly has 5 different poses and this set is so versatile. I made 2 cards, but I fully intended making 5 - one with each Dilly, but somehow life just got in the way this week :)

My first card is a Christmas card with Dilly holding the gift. This particular digi is perfect as a Thank You card or a Birthday Card:

I teamed Dilly with a tree from Tree Lot and a bird, which I coloured to resemble a robin, from Lovely Garden.
The images are coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut.  Some white Posca pen highlights were added to the images along with some iridescent glitter.

The background is acrylic paints applied with a damp, scrunched-up baby wipe. White paint was applied through a stencil and white and black paint splatters made with a fan brush. The edges of the background were stamped with music script and then inked with Ranger black ink. Three stars were heat embossed in gold.
The tree and girl are grounded with spotty washi tape and popped up on foam tape. The robin was adhered directly onto the background.

Here is my second card:

This one features Dilly with a bunch of flowers - she's the perfect choice for a Birthday, Thank You or general card. The background is acrylics applied with a crumpled baby wipe, but with a view to resembling ground and sky. The side edges are stamped with script and all edges are inked in black. Distress Oxide was applied through a stencil over the grass and black and white paint splatters were applied all over.
The images are coloured in Copic markers. I teamed Dilly with a sun (from Sunny), a cloud (from Beach Love) and bird (from Lovely Garden). Dilly is grounded on striped washi tape and tiny torn strips of washi are added on each edge of the card.

Here are my other Dillys - coloured and ready to be made into projects:

* Vera Lane Studio: Little Houses ATCoin Storage

Hello!

Today I thought I would share this quick and easy project. It's a repurposed crisp tube: you know the kind - once you pop - you can't stop!

It makes a perfect pencil/tool storage pot, but look what fits neatly inside ...

.... Artist Trading Coins!
(the ATCoin in the tin was made by the lovely Fran Chalmers)

I only have a few ATCoins from the two swaps at Vera Lane Studio Facebook Group, but I'm hoping to make and receive many more, so this will come in handy.

I used the pre-coloured Vera Lane Studio Collage Sheet images (details below) - they are fabulous for quick, colourful projects - just print, cut and glue.

So, how did I make this:

1. Eat the crisps and clean the container.
2. Gesso the outside cardboard.
3. I decided to add torn pieces of graph paper rather than paint the gessoed surface directly, but either will do.
4. Paint the container - don't ask why I chose this beautiful pink colour - it was a new paint I had bought and I just had to try it out - gorgeous translucent finish!
5. Make a border from book paper and colour/paint, then adhere along the bottom edge of the container.
6. I added some torn strips of washi tape.
7. I also added some textured trim along the top edge of the container.
8. Fussy cut images, go around the edges with a black marker to mask any cutting imperfections and adhere to the tube.

Simple. Quick. Useful.

That's all from me for today.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane.
It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Thanks for stopping by today.

* Vera Lane Studio: Friendship ATCs

Hello!

At Vera Lane Studio we have a monthly ATC swap in the Facebook group, and this month the theme is Friendship.

Here are my ATCs:

The first ATC features a digi stamp from the Bread, Butter and Flower set:

I used the girl kitty, Butter - isn't she cute!  She's coloured with Copic markers and fussy cut and I added Flower as a balloon for her to carry to her friend. Look at her sweet words! She truly is a great friend!
The background is Distress Oxides in Mustard Seed and Seedless Preserves with some modelling paste through a stencil for texture. Butter stands on some washi tape, the edges of the ATC are inked in Distress Oxide and Ranger black ink and I added 3 tiny golden coloured gems for a bit of sparkle. Flower and Butter both have Glossy Accent eyes.

My second ATC features one of Vera's Owls:

I chose the owl with the heart since the theme is all about Friendship. Again I coloured the owl with Copic markers, adding some detail and highlighting with a white Posca pen. The owl was fussy cut and popped on foam pads. He was given a washi strip to stand upon. I love his punny message - good friends are always there for us no matter what!
The background is acrylic paint applied to the card with a brayer. Texture paste was applied through stencil to create the triangles, but being white, they didn't stand out so much, so I outlined them with a black fineliner pen. I added some clear crystal gems and inked the edges of the ATC and finished it off with a hand drawn border. My owl has Glossy Accent eyes.

That's all from me for today.
