* Vera Lane Studio: Good Reads

Hello!

Where is this year going? I can't believe we are already in August. Here in NW England, we are back to social distancing with everyone outside of our own households. Also, we are not able to meet up with extended family or friends either in our homes or gardens. Like everyone else I want this pandemic to go away, but unless everyone plays their part, it is not going to happen.

Anyhow, today is my DT day at Vera Lane Studio and Janet has a new release for us today. It is Good Reads, an adorable little girl in two settings, along with 3 sentiments.  I made a bookmark and a journal page:

My journal page is bright and cheerful, using Twisted Citron and Broken China Distress Oxides over a white, heat embossed background stamp (#210 Background Mash Up) from AALL & Create.

Water was splattered over the Oxides to bleach some colour out and Janet's Background Noise stamps (#338) were used along the edges.

The image was coloured with Copic markers and finished with some Polychromo pencil shading. Good Reads girl was fussy cut and popped on some torn washi to ground her. Before I  printed the framed 'read' sentiment, I joined three together. One of the other sentiments was cut into strips, inked in black and adhered to the background.

My bookmark tag has a more vintage coloured background. I used Speckled Egg, Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Oxides over a white, heat embossed background using a stamp from Background Noise. 

 

This time the inks were spritzed with water to let the oxidisation take place. More stamping in black using Background Noise stamps was added along the edges along with a catchy line.  The girl was coloured with Copics and finished with pencils. I matted the bookmark onto black card and threaded some raffia cord trim through the top.
