House Mouse: A Day Spent with Friends

Here's a card I made for the House Mouse and Friends Challenge.
The theme is "A Day Spent with Friends"

I remember summer days spent on beaches collecting shells and pebbles when I was little. In fact, come to think of it, I still do collect them! Who can resist the lovely colours and textures?

I used a decoupage sheet for this.

What I learned about decoupage was:
1. It's a lot, and I mean a LOT,  more tricky than I thought!
2. I need an alternative to foam pads, as some pieces were very small and fiddly to attach.
3. Those mice make me smile so much - such adorable faces!

I masked the main image around the edges and used ink dusters to add some blue to the sky and some extra beachy colours. I edged each decoupaged piece with inks to take away the white edges. Once the decoupaged image was complete, I matted it onto black card. This was added to another mat made from black and shimmery blue card.
Ivory heart ribbon was stuck along the bottom and tiny flat back pearls were added between the hearts. Two flowers were made from textured yellow card stock using hand held punches. A pearl heart was added to the centre of each.

Fairy Trinchie

Hello!

I made my first Trinchie today!

I started with a 3 x 3 inch card base and used Gecko Galz collage sheets to design a miniature collage.

I used elements from these Gecko Galz sheets:

Summer Card Toppers for the background forest.

The edge of the card was inked in Vintage Photo. The blue birds and fairy were attached on foam for dimension. Glitter was added to the wings of the fairy and dragonfly and blue flowers finished it off.

Vintage Paris Pocket Letter

Hello

Today I'm sharing my latest Pocket Letter which is finding its way across the pond to Canada.

The theme I have chosen for my swap partner is Vintage Parisian.

I used printable collage sheets including a beautiful free digital collage sheet called Parisian Time from Gecko Galz which I got as a thank you for purchasing one of their products this month (how generous is that?)

My script and postal marked background was cut into ATC sized cards. These were aged with Vintage Photo ink. I printed the collage sheet twice so that I could decoupage some images to make them 3D. Ivory lace and ribbon were used to add to the vintage feel, along with various shaped pearls in ivory and grey. Pink and clear iridescent gems were added to the centres of the flower ribbons.  A decoupaged tag with pearl strings and flowers was attached to the spine of the Pocket Letter.

Here are a few close ups:

My Sunshine

Hello!

Here is another simple plaid-based card, made with digital paper and image from Gecko Galz.

The background plaid is from the Easter Eggs Mini Digital Paper Pack and was printed onto A6 glossy paper. It was trimmed and mounted onto black card.

The lovely, chalkboard image is from the Beautiful Words Digital Collage Set.  It was mounted onto a snippet of mustard coloured card and then onto a slightly larger piece of black card. The whole image topper was attached to the card background on foam pads for dimension.

I found a snippet of yellow 'organza' ribbon in my stash and just about managed to wrap it around the front panel and make a bow out of it. A wooden heart-shaped button added the finishing touch.

Summer Plaid

Hello

I made this simple little card for one of this month's FB challenges at Gecko Galz.

Each month there are a series of challenges with digital download prizes. Here are this month's themes:

My card is for the 'Make It Plaid' challenge and the only rule is that you must use at least one item from Gecko Galz.

I used one of the papers from the Gecko Galz Easter Eggs Mini Digital Paper Pack which I printed onto glossy paper. I matted this onto black card for the background.
The bird image is from the Gecko Galz collage sheet called For the Birds. This was matted onto black card, then onto purple card and again onto black card.
A doiley was die cut from white card, cut in half and glued onto the plaid background. The matted bird image was mounted on foam pads to give some dimension.
Pink pearls were added as a finishing touch.

The inside of the card was lined with the same plaid patterned paper.

Nesting Time

Hello

I made this card inspired by the challenge at Pinspirational Challenges.

Here is the Challenge's Pinterest photo:

I kept my colour scheme the same, using Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and Crushed Olive distress inks and a blending tool to create a backdrop for my collage. This was matted onto gold card.

The birds are beautiful images from a set of four postcards called Sweet Songbirds at Ephemera's Vintage Garden. I fussy cut around the birds, inked the edges and mounted them on foam pads to give dimension.

Cream cotton lace was placed along the bottom of the mat and from there a cluster of inked, die cut, vellum leaves, natural fibres and brown pearl stamen were attached. I also found some dried seed pods and glued these onto the leaves.

A small glitter tag was inked and added to the foliage cluster.

A tiny gold coloured butterfly charm was added to the lace.

I decided to punch the edge of the kraft card using a flower border punch. I used green patterned design paper, called Wildflower, as a background, inked the edges in Vintage Photo and mounted the matted image on foam pads.

The patterned paper was also used to line the inside of the card, so that it showed through the border punched pattern.

The banners on the inside were die cut using the smallest Pierced Banner from Cheery Lynn.
