* Vera Lane Studio: Collage Scraps

Hello!

Today is my Vera Lane Studio DT day and I have a project to share.

I made a pair of cards using the Blue Collage Scraps that were recently released. The collage scraps are 50 co-ordinated, patterned papers pieces in shades of blue, many of which have been machine stitched for visual effect. They come in png format and so can be layered up and then printed, but you can also print, cut out and glue. I experimented with both ways ...

I layered my scraps using PowerPoint and added the png of Wildflower to the journal card. I liked how the card front looked and printed it out. I coloured Wildflower with Copics, distressed and inked the edges of the paper scraps and attached the whole to a card base.
Basically this is a quick way to make a one-layer card. If you have Photoshop you could add drop shadows along the edges of the various scraps and this would give the appearance of dimension.

I must admit that I prefer to have some dimension on my cards, so the second way where I printed the scrap elements, cut them out and glued them onto card pleased me more.
I distressed all the edges of the scraps with scissors and inked them with Memento Nautical Blue ink. I arranged them and glued them in place. The journal card was added on foam pads for dimension. I coloured Wildflower with Copic markers and cut her out leaving a thin white border. She was then glued directly onto the journal card.

In this close up photo you can see the layers clearly:
