Vera Lane Studio: Margaux

I am having trouble with Blogger.
I'm sorry, but I cannot comment on blogs that only allow Google account users to leave comments. I have no idea why and any suggestions are most welcome!

Hello!

Vera Lane Studio has a new release today! It is Margaux and she's a coffee lover!

The digi set comprises of a black and white digi for you to colour and 5 Margaux with pre-coloured collage-style dresses, plus a sentiment.

I used one of the pre-coloured versions which meant I only had to colour the head, hair and coffee cup, and the legs and arms.

For my colouring I used Copics and coloured pencils and added white Posca pen highlights. I fussy cut Margaux and ran around the outline with a black Copic to conceal any white card. I chose to use the Blue Collage Scraps for the background. I love working with the digital scraps and have these tips to share:

1.  Print off the scraps you like and bear in mind the size of the cards you wish to make.
I like the large stitched scrap (Blue 25) as a starting point, and this time I made it 12 x 12 cm to fit my card.
2. Distressing the edges of the scraps, by running a pair of scissors along them, adds some texture and interest to the scraps. You could tear or curl up the edges if you like.
3. Lightly inking the distressed edges of the scraps with a blending tool makes the scraps stand out a bit more.
4. Assemble and glue the scraps together to cover the card base - play around before gluing to see which layout appeals to you most.
5. Use a more neutral scrap - I used Blue 50 (or a journal card) for the focal image background and pop it on foam pads for dimension. I distressed and inked the coloured edge of the note-let card.
6. Add your focal image - either glue directly onto the note card, or pop on foam pads, like I did, for extra depth and dimension.
