* Gecko Galz: Summertime Picnic

Hello!

If you love vintage and retro images, then you should check out the Gecko Galz blog. Every other day there is a new post with a free image. The images are usually related to the monthly challenge theme.

I love the summertime images that are the freebies this month. 

The one I added to this card reminds me of my very early childhood, except that I have a sister and not a brother :) I vaguely remember the first car we had - shiny red with running boards! We very often would take picnics with us when we went out for the day, I suppose it was less expensive than eating out. 

Anyhow, here is my card:

I teamed the free image with one of the papers from the Gyspsy Market paper pack. I distressed the edges of the paper and the photo with scissors and inked them with Vintage Photo. I added some twine trim across the bottom portion of the paper so that the image would lie on top. The sentiment is from the Charming Words collage sheet and is popped on foam pads. I added some natural hessian flowers and a twine bow as embellishments and matted the background onto kraft card which was also distressed. 

I made this into a tent card, but then I thought that the image and sentiment would be good as a holiday journal, so here it is placed on a chipboard panel:
