* Gecko Galz: Midsummer's Dream

July is here and at Gecko Galz we have a new challenge. The theme for this month is Midsummer's Dreams and, as usual, there are many beautiful papers and Gecko Galz images to play with.
I made two projects, the first is a notebook with a surreal image as the cover and the second one is a card with a dreamy fairy image.

My first project is an altered notebook:

The notebook is covered with Kraft card to make it a little sturdier. I measured the front cover, double it and cut the kraft card 0.5cm longer than that. This allowed space to fold the card around the spine. I used a scoreboard to score a 0.5cm section for the spine.
The front of the cover is decorated with Gecko Galz paper and a digital image. The paper is one of my favourites and is from the Gypsy Market paper pack. I distressed the edges and inked them with Vintage Photo. I die cut some antique gold paper with border dies and attached these under the paper.
Isn't the image beautiful! It was FREE!!! Yes - free! Whenever you buy a Gecko Galz product from the Etsy shop, you get a free image - I got this one during the month of June when I bought one of the weekly $1 deal products. I distressed and inked the edges and added some Stickles Diamond glitter to the fishing the bubbles, and heat embossed the star crown with a Versamark pen and Gold powder
I added some square metallic trim to diagonally opposite corners, some lace flower trim with a crystal gem added to the centre of each, and some alphabet stickers to spell out the word 'Notes'.
Some gorgeous, green organza ribbon was attached to the back of the kraft card, before I glued it to the notebook, to form the closure.

Gypsy Market

My second project is a card:

My background paper is called Island Breeze from the La Isla Bonita paper pack. I matched it with green paper from the Pixie Dust paper pack and dark blue paper from my stash. I saw a card sketch that appealed to me and made my own version of it using a Banner die. The image is from the Pixie Magic collage sheet. The beautiful fairy's wings were glittered.  I added some paper distressing, some tiny flat back pearls and an embroidered lace butterfly.

That's all from me for now!

I hope you'll join our Midsummer's Dream Challenge where the Winner will get
$25 shopping spree
at the Gecko Galz shop.

The only rule is that you must use at least one Gecko Galz product
(this can be one of the freebies or, of course, you can buy at the Etsy store!)
Also if you sign up for the Gecko Galz newsletter, you'll be able to claim a free collage sheet each month and get first claim on the weekly $1 deals!

Please pop over to the Gecko Galz blog to see the fabulous designs by the very talented DT.
