Path of Positivity: Noelle

 Hello!

Happy Monday!
I hope you are staying safe and well.

Today is the start of a new Path of Positivity challenge.

This month the theme is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Rejoice.

Prizes this month include:
  • $10 Gift Certificate from Limited Runs our guest sponsor for this month, for a person chosen in a random draw based on all qualifying entrants.
  • ONE image (value of $5 or less) from Scribbles Designs, for the post or project that the team deems most inspiring of the bunch based on all qualifying entrants.
  • One digital image from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for each person chosen as a DT Delight.

Our optional theme this month is Rejoice
For many, this time of year is an occasion for happiness. While the pandemic makes this year harder to get together with those you may normally spend time with during the holiday season, there are still many reasons we have to rejoice. Thus, we want you to create a project that reflects the JOY of the holiday season

Please remember in order to be eligible for the prizes your project must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way.

I chose to use a beautiful stamp from Limited Runs called Noelle. She can be found in the Seasonal - Christmas section on this page.

My family is fairly small and I am not one for huge parties or celebrations any way, so this Christmas I will be very happy to spend some quality time with my immediate family. My Christmas card, featuring Noelle in the snow is reflecting my joy at being happy and healthy, having all that I need in life and enjoying the quiet calm of nature on winter days.

I coloured Noelle with Copic markers and fussy cut her leaving a thin, white border. I teamed this beautiful image with trees, die cut from card that I coloured by smooshing the new Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide inks onto card, dabbing, drying and smooshing several times to get a good depth of colour.
The sky is stamped with a stencil using Speckled Egg Distress Oxide. The ground is texture paste with Crystal Snow applied on top whilst it was still wet. The trees and Noelle are popped on foam tape for dimension. I splattered white paint and added some flecks of crystal snow to give the impression of falling snow. The sentiment is die cut.

Many thanks to Limited Runs, this month's guest sponsor,

and to Scribbles Designs as the ongoing sponsor of the challenge

We would love to see your creations!
Just make sure that your entry is positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some way!

Vera Lane Studio: Merry

 Hello!

Time for another Vera Lane Studio post today. I have a Christmas card featuring two recently released sets called Just Jump and Merry. The little girl reminded me of the excitement of youngsters on Christmas morning.

I coloured the images with Copics and fussy cut them. The background is stamped with one of Janet Klein's stencils, Petals and Pods, using Distress Oxide inks. Background and edge stamping was done using Janet's Visual Ingredients stamp set. Stamps and stencils are from AALL & Create.

AALL & Create: Poppy Field Book Jacket

Hello!

For today's AALL & Create project I have made a dust jacket to pop over the little memo books that I use. I decided to use some of  Tracy Evans' beautiful nature inspired stamp sets along with background stamps and stencils from Autour de Mwa and Janet Klein.

I use many little notebooks throughout the year and often buy cheap memo books. I decided to make a pretty, nature inspired jacket to wrap around the memo books. The back flap can be used as a page marker. The jacket can be reused time and again and is even reversable in case I feel like a change.

This is what it looks like. It has two flaps that fold inside the book. The back one can be used as a bookmark.

This is what it looks like on the memo book. I added bull dog clips to secure the jacket, but it could easily be secured with reposition tape as well.

I added some elastic string as a closure. Inside the cover, the spine is strengthened with red tape and washi tape.

The back:

How it was made:

I started with a piece of A4 300gsm card and trimmed it to the length of the memo book. I smooshed Distress Oxides to replicate sky and land, then used stencils to stamp patterns.

Next I added some background stamping

Elements from Papaver Poppies were stamped, coloured with Copics and fussy cut. The bird stamps from Pinecone and Wire Birds were stamped and fussy cut, but left uncoloured. The birds and their backgrounds were stamped onto the book jacket and the small foliage stamps from Papaver Poppies filled the ground between the poppy flowers and seed heads.

White paint splatters were applied over the cover.

The back of the book jacket is decorated too, but more plainly. This makes the cover reversible.:

Stamps used:
#389 Pinecone - Tracy Evans
#394 Wire Birds - Tracy Evans
#395 Papaver Poppies - Tracy Evans

Vera Lane Studio: Christmas Elves ATCoins

Hello!

For my Vera Lane Studio DT post this week I have made a set of ATCoins using the adorable Christmas Cheer digi set.

This is an older set, but one that I still love. The boy and girl elves are so cute. They come with two different trees and a sentiment.

I coloured the images with Copic markers and fussy cut them. The coins were smooshed into Distress Oxides in shades of blue and Black Soot. I die cut a strip of card to represent the snow drifts and covered them with mica flakes. White splatters represent falling snow and some dots of glitter were also applied. The elves were popped on foam tape for a little dimension.

That's all for now.
I hope you'll come along and play on Vera Lane. It's such a friendly, fun place to be!

Gecko Galz: White Christmas

 Hello!

Over at the Gecko Galz Challenge blog ,the November theme is White Christmas, so I thought I would continue with that theme for my DT day.

I have made a selection of cards using images from Gnome for the Holidays. The images all have a lovely vintage vibe.

The first one here depicts some cute little gnomes skating in the snow,. Look at the sledge made from a nut shell - how adorable.  I decided to make a shaker card, using silver sequins as snow.

In this close up photograph you can see the flecks of glitter I applied over the falling snow. The shaker box was built up by using several pieces of die cut card.

My second card  features a gnome peeping out of his doorway. His lantern lights up the night sky.

The gnome has glossy accents on his cold nose and also on his lantern.

My third card features a trio of cheeky gnomes. One holds a lantern, one holds a gift. They all have warm and cosy mittens and hats.

I used some paper from the Merry and Bright ATC set as background  for these gnomes and applied glossy accents to their noses and to the lantern. The cute sentiment was stamped.

This last card was the one I made for the Customer Inspiration post. It uses a beautiful image from the Snow Time Fantasy collage set.

I added a silver glitter, die cut tree and two kraft card die cut deer to replicate those in the image. I also added glitter to the snowflakes and a banner of silver snowflakes along the top edge.

AALL & Create: Christmas Cuties

Hello!

Thursday is here and it is my GDT day at AALL & Create.

I made a couple of cutie Christmas cards featuring the A6 stamp, Merry and Bright, designed by Janet Klein. I used traditional seasonal colours and added a touch of grunge to the backgrounds.

My first card has the mistletoe girl! Her background was made by inking the Lotza Triangle stencil, spritzing with water and using it as a stamp. I used a spare piece of card to smoosh through Distress Oxide, then traced three triangle from the stencil and fussy cut them to make the banner.

I popped the Copic coloured girl on a piece of torn #6 Washi Tape and added the Merry Christmas sentiment.

Here is my second card:

Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Weathered Wood Distress Oxides were smooshed onto a craft mat and the card was dipped, dried and dipped again until I was happy with the coverage. White splatters were applied all over and the edges were inked in black with Background Noise and Tile Pile.

The little girl was coloured with Copics and fussy cut. I popped her on top of a gold embossed wooden frame which was on top of black mesh trim and gold trim.I found a Tim Holtz brad with the number 25 in my stash and added this to hold the mesh trims in place.

Stamps Used

#413 Merry & Bright - Janet Klein
#314 Tile Pile - Autour de Mwa
#376 Reverse Triangles - Autour de Mwa

Stencils Used:
